Pepperoni Love

Do you love others like you love a pepperoni pizza, or do you practice a selfless love like Jesus did?

What Jesus did for us, and what he asks us to do for each other, goes far beyond the way we think of love today.

Today I look at how our seemingly ordinary acts of service can be transformed into acts of genuine, sacrificial love.

I hope you have a blessed day in God’s Word!

Living in Exile, (OGW, 046)

In today’s episode of Opening God’s Word I talk about the hymn O Come O Come Emmanuel and the idea that we are living in exile from God!

I hope this will give you a little “food for thought” as we inch our way ever closer to Christmas!

Have a blessed day in God’s Word!

How are We Saved? (OGW – 7, Letter to Romans, Chapter 3)

In today’s episode of Opening God’s Word we jump right into the debate about whether we are saved by faith or works!

We only have a couple of minutes, so let’s simplify it.  Tune in to see how we can take a challenging topic, and through the words of Paul in the Letter to the Romans, Chapter 3, cut to the basics.

You will not want to miss this!  Be sure to open up your bible, or go online and look closely at this chapter.

I hope you have a blessed day in God’s Word!

Just a Little Complaint (CC, 024)

I don’t like to complain, but, what’s up with exercising when it doesn’t move the dial on the scales?  Surely my walking is making SOME difference, right?

Today I talk about doing good, even when you don’t see the results.

I suggest that you find what it is that you are being called to do, and try your best to do it.  Don’t let the apparent littleness of it stop you.  Don’t let the naysayers discourage you.  Don’t let that little voice in your head convince you it is not worth doing.  Don’t weigh its value against how big a wave it makes today.

I hope today’s episode will get you thinking and inspire you to continue your good work, even if you can’t see the difference it makes.

What Are You Covering Up? (Podcast, CC, 023)

Let’s talk about that clutter!

Do you have closets, or a garage, or even a basement full of STUFF?  What is it doing to your peace of mind, and WHY aren’t you doing anything about it?

Often the massive overflow filling up our homes can become a burden, one that stands between us and God!  How is that possible?  What’s the connection? Why is simplicity important?

Listen in as I talk about my bookcases and how I approached them when I realized they were becoming overstuffed.  Let’s talk about what you may be covering up when you can’t let go of things.

There may be a few reasons you haven’t considered, as to why you are so attached.

Please share this podcast with a friend if you think they might find it helpful!

How Do You Treat People? CC022

The point to today’s podcast is to encourage us to evaluate our behavior towards other people to be sure that we are not an obstacle to someone coming to faith.

How do you respond when you meet someone whose life choices are contrary to the Gospel?

What about that person who is “unappealing to our senses” or is crushed and broken by life? Do you want them sitting next to you in church?

Will you stare at them, or welcome them?

Jesus called out the leaders of his day, the Scribes and Pharisees, for being hypocritical.

Surely he wouldn’t ever talk about us this way, would he?

Have a Blessed day in God’s Word!

Sadness is Not a Christian Attitude? Say What? – CC020

In today’s episode of Cassidy Comments I offer my response to the idea that “sadness is not a Christian attitude” as mentioned in an article from the website Vatican News quoting Pope Francis.

What is the Pope saying?  Is he implying that Christians cannot/should not be sad?  Is that even possible?

I dig a little deeper and check out some scriptural references and uncover the relationship between sadness, joy and what Jesus and the Pope have to say about it.

I invite you to check out my blog at janetcassidy.blogspot.com and I hope you will subscribe to it, as well as to my podcasts which are always found at janetcassidy.blubrry.com

If you would like to contact me to arrange to have me speak to your group or organization, please email me at: johnseven38@yahoo.com

I have put a link to the article from Vatican News on my blog as well.

Change–it’s pretty messy! CC019

Have you ever been faced with a change that was hard for you to accept?  Would you agree that sometimes change can be pretty messy?

In today’s episode of Cassidy Comments I recall a change the Catholic Church made in regards to standing after receiving Holy Communion and then I move into the current difficulty we have today as a civil body struggling to become unified.

I highlight the most important thing we can do if we really want to achieve unity.

I have included on my blog at janetcassidy.blogspot.com an insightful TED talk that I think you may find very interesting.  Be sure to check it out!

Squire Bill’s Inspiration, CC 018

In today’s episode of Cassidy Comments I hope you will find a little fun history and maybe some inspiration.  Listen in as I talk about a favorite quote of mine and the surprising history I learned about it.

I discovered after all these years, the quote is not only inaccurate, but has been popularly attributed to the wrong person!  Who knew that President Roosevelt’s friendship with a Virginian named Squire Bill Widener would perpetuate such a wonderful quote?

If you are looking for a little inspiration for yourself, maybe you, too, will be inspired by Squire Bill.  Since I am a bit of a quote junkie, if you would like to follow me on Twitter @livingwaterjn7, you can find some of my other favorite quotes.  Or, if you have some of your own, I would love for you to share them on my blog at janetcassidy.blogspot.com.

As always, I encourage you to subscribe!
